Health eTools for Schools® is a leading edge program that harnesses technology with best practices to improve student wellness in schools throughout Pennsylvania. It provides educators and administrators with access to research-based, evidence-driven curriculum for better nutrition and physical activity planning.

Health eTools for Schools® is a secure web-based portal that enables school nurses to electronically input, track, and communicate student’s health and fitness information through an electronic version of the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s required School Health Record for all students. It is based on the CDC’s Coordinated School Health Program model, a multi-component approach designed to encourage schools, families, and communities to work together to improve students’ health and their capacity to learn.

Health eTools for Schools® is the result of a partnership between the Highmark Foundation, Highmark Inc., the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Pennsylvania school districts, parochial and charter schools are eligible to participate in Health eTools for Schools® at no cost, due to sponsorships by Independence Blue Cross, Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania, and the Highmark Foundation, through its Highmark Healthy High 5 initiative.
